The sky’s the limit for local business networkers!

Local business people Louise Yates and Keith Irwen are set to raise £1500 for MacMillan Cancer Support following their creative jailbreak from Strangeways Prison in Manchester.

Handcuffed, they were taken in a blackened out coach and dumped at a secret location in the North West from where they had to make their way back, with no money, to Tiger Tiger in Manchester.

Louise who owns the Business For Breakfast networking franchise in Bury and Keith whose business Leviosa installs CRM systems (and also a member of Business For Breakfast), used their business contacts to help them.

After negotiating a lift from Skipton, the real difference was made by one of their contacts Sid Green, of Bell Trailer Services, Nelson. Sid kindly offered to helicopter them to Manchester City Airport who in the spirit of the day agreed to waive the landing fee. The final part of the journey was completed with the help of a motorist who took them from the airport back to the Print Works in the centre of Manchester.

Louise and Keith were first to arrive back and were awarded the prize for the most creative route back.

As Louise said afterwards though, ‘Awards aside, what the event is all about is raising money for a great cause. I was first introduced to MacMillan cancer when they joined my Bury networking group and I have seen first hand how they have helped one member tremendously whose husband passed away recently from cancer. We wanted to do something that would get noticed as this encourages further donations and also helps to keep the profile of MacMillan Cancer high. People have already been incredibly generous and we just need to raise a couple more hundred to hit £1500

I would also encourage anyone wanting to raise money for a good cause to get involved in one of their many varied events…there’s something there for everyone.’
